English Experience

This is the last blog and I think time flies, so for today I'm going to talk about my English lenguage experiences and challenges at University. I always liked to learn another lenguage and I left High School thinking I was quite good in English but it wasn't like that hahaha so when I came here, I started in the second level. During these years I've been learning a lot and improving in english. Of course, there's so much more to learn but these 4 years studying this lenguage have been worth it! In the previous levels, teachers used to talk the most in Spanish and I think that is not good at all, but the experience of write blogs has been really helpful. For me, write in english is the hardest part, so the blog is the perfect opportunity to practice writing and improve those skills. I need to practice this a lot, so maybe I can start to read books or somethings in English. Also I would like to get better in pronunciation, so I watch a lot of videos and shows to li...

What should be changed in my study programme?

Well, we are a kind of special generation, because we are the last one which is studying with the old curriculum. The curriculum was renovated, changing a lot of subjects and their focus, this thing was a harmful for us because our curriculum really needed that renovation, some of the topics are timeless or don't fit with the current society. The thing is that the curriculum was actually changed, but not for us and there is nothing we can do now. One of the thing that I think should be changed, it's the length of the classes, we have classes which last more than 3 hours! more than enough. So, the schedule becomes stressful, and the most of time we don't have time to do all the homeworks. If we talk about the buildings and infrastructure, the campus in general is not that good, always they are building and we have to study with a lot of noises and dirty. The organization sometimes is really bad. Also the technology, although we have almost all that we need, the inte...

Summer is coming

Holidays are coming and I don't really have plans, actually. This year, the semester is going to finish in january, because the past strike and after that, I'm gonna to start my practice, working in a foundation, although I really like their labor because they promove the love for animals. This summer is going to be kind of boring hahaha and this holidays are gonna be a little different for me.  Even though I'm going to be working, I plan to still doing fun things and hanging out with my friends and family, like go to swimming pool, go to eat out and that kind of summer things, in weekends at least.  Above all, I have a certain plan, in february I'm going to go to Valdivia with my family, we love visit the south of Chile, and I think it's going to be very nice, I went to Valdivia once, actually just one evening because it was part of my study travel when I was in High School, but my mom has never been in the city and she really want to go. If I could cho...

A part of me

Since today is my birthday, I can't think in something else hahaha but what things can I talk about my birthday? It's not easy so I decided to talk about a thing that is important for me: my life as a vegan and share my story about that. Well, since I was a little I've always thought that the fact to eat meat or animals it wasn't good, but when you are a child you can't decide by yourself, so when I was 10 I refused to eat meat. At the beggining my mom said me that I was too picky and that was the problem but finally she left me, although with the condition to still eating chicken and fish. I live eating like that until the summer of 2017 when I decided to left definitely all the meat, I wasn't be able to still eating animals, I know the most don't see like that but for me is something even crazy. As a responsible adult hahaha I went to visit a nutritionits and she gave me a lot of tip and instructions to take a healthy life. I was eating really goo...

Never stop studying

Thinking about my future and the fact that I'm in the last years of my career, of course it comes to my mind the possibility to take post graduate studies. I believe tha we shouldn't stop learning never and also I can't even imagine my life not being a student. I think I've always wanted to do a postgraduate course but I'm not sure in wich area yet. It could be a specialization in culture or definitely some course to get better in the audiovisual area, even could be photography. These specializations would allow me to dedicate to these areas that are not so touched in journalism, wich are precisely the ones that I like! hahaha. When I just entered to the university I wanted to do an exchange but I feel afraid and of course money was a big deal, so I decided that if I could do a postgraduate course it will be abroad, actually I've been looking University and courses that I could take! I would like to study in Australia or New Zeland or , live in these countr...

Plan for the future

I think I'm still learning about the things I like and the things I'm good in this career, but since I was a child I've always wanted to travel a lot. So I can tell that something where I could travel, would be my dream job, I love learning about different cultures and try things completely news for me, I think travel is one of the best experiencies in life.  As a journalism I would like to have a specialization in the culture area or work in themes related to art and nature and this could help me to travel, I hope so. Also I like the audiovisual part of journalism, more than write and everything (I'd love to do documentaries) and I know that is not so easy, I mean, to find a job in that field being a journalist. But if I could find a job, which would take all the possibilities into account, I'll be really grateful hahaha. I don't like rutines and do the same things all the time, so I'll be fine if I can alternate the kind of works and places, I wou...

How did I get here

Well, during my school time, while I was growing, I thought about a lot of things that I wanted to be when I could finish school. In  my first years I was decided to be a vet! I've always loved animals, but with the time I realized that I can't even see blood hahaha so I left that dream. Then I started to have interest in the humanity area. I wanted to be an archaeologist and then a lawyer, even I wanted to be a dancer!  When I was in my last year of high school I didn't know what career choose. At that time I had developed a great interest in photography, and that was the first step to start to think in journalism. I realized that journalism had several things that I liked and could be a great option to study a wide field.  I didn't have other options and I was kind of indecisive but I had to make a decision. Therefore, I decided to make my university application only with journalism and only at Universidad de Chile, people said to me that I was crazy and the ...

Underrated genre?

I think people don't talk too much about this genre, I mean, as a cool one or maybe It's not the cup of tea of everybody (who are not kids) but for me, It's one of the genres that I enjoy the most: The animated films! Maybe I refuse to grow up hahaha but I really love children’s movies and cartoons characters, I think they have so much more besides entertaining kids, some of them have really deep meanings and lessons. I really like the Pixar ones,  Toy Story is one of my favorite movies ever! There is a scene that I like a lot, when Woody is stolen  by a crazy toy collector, who wants to sell it to  a Japanese museum and hires a toy "doctor" for fix every part of Woody and leave it as new, that part is really satisfying to see !   Also, I like Monster Inc , Up , Wall-E , Finding Nemo and of course, short films like For the Birds . It’s probable that I like them because they bring me good childhood memories but I think the stories are r...

What a great holiday

I think one of the most wonderful things in life is travel. I'd love to visit a lot of places, I haven't visit many places yet, but I'm young and I hope I could travel as many as possible in the future. Two summers ago was the first time that I took an airplane, I went to Rapa Nui (Easter Island) with my friend, and I was kind of scary because was my first experience travelling by my own.  I went for 2 weeks and a half, for me a trip like that would habe been so expensive but I had luck beacuse my friend's cousin is chef and he was working in a hotel of the island so we were able to stay in his house. The experience was wonderful because the places are extremely beautiful, I can't even describe them by words.  I could visit the many volcanoes of the island, the beautiful beaches (Anakena took my heart) and of course learn more about the wonderful culture. One of the things that I enjoyed a lot was when we came back before visit The Rano Kau volcano. O...

A place that I'd love to go

Well, If I could...I would love to visit a lot of places, cities and countries, as many as posible. But for a long time I've been obsessed with Italy, actually I'd like to go next year! Honestly I don't know why, I think I love their culture, arquitecture, people and of course the food. Their places have a special and unique vibe, I've never been there, but when I see the pictures I can imagine the enviroment of the cities, the smells and the colors. I really like photography so for sure I'd go crazy taking pictures everywhere hahaha, specially of the magnificent building. Also one of my favorite food is the italian food, I want to try the original one, pizza above of all. Besides I really like art and historical places, I think Italy is full of that. It's really difficult to me choose a city because all of them are beautiful so I'm saving money to visit the main ones, I'm planning to go to the next winter holidays so It's going to be summ...
